Brickwrecks

Sunken Ships in Lego Bricks.

2021

A national and international travelling exhibition featuring LEGO models and artefacts. This exhibit combines maritime archaeology of famous Shipwrecks with LEGO models built by Ryan “The Brickman” McNaught and his team.

What I did:

brand design / brand guidelines / brand management / logo / information graphics / large scale / 3D model / illustration / print management / install management

Locations: WA Maritime Museum - Perth / Albany / Geraldton / Kalgoorlie, Australian National Maritime Museum (Sydney), Vasa Museum (Sweden), The Docklands (United Kingdom), Mystic Seaport Museum (USA)

This project needed graphics to appeal to both young and old audiences as this was an all ages exhibit. The logo was designed and built in 3D to reflect the logo theme. This logo was also physically built for the exhibit entrance area.

The style was bold, colourful and slightly playful, using colours found in the Lego colour palette and Lego brick studs to scale as a graphic element.

I designed and developed a mascot that was used throughout to help visitors identify information graphics aimed at children and as a physical scale for the showcased ship wrecks.
